Job description
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Environments, Health & Safety Officer to join our client, Britain's number 1 professional power tool manufacturer based in Telford.
As Environments, Health & Safety Officer, you will promote awareness throughout our client's business, whilst finding the balance between environmental sustainability & profitability through a robust management framework and ensuring the Environmental Management System is assigned, communicated, and understood.
You'll examine all relevant policies, procedures, and legal requirements, making sure they are implemented, updated, and adhered to. You'll provide a professional service, ensuring the safety of all employees, customers, and visitors to the company. You must hold an IOSH / NEBOSH qualification (General / Environmental / Fire) and ISO 14001 with experience in conducting internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote an environmental, Health and Safety awareness/culture to fully achieve compliance with legislation and the strategic direction of the Company
* Ensure the Company's rules, policies, and procedures are compliant with current environmental, Health and Safety legislation, provide support and guidance to ensure that all employees operate within these requirements
* Support the environment, Health and Safety strategic direction of the Company and give support in meeting those related objectives
* Ensure that an Environmental Management System is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with ISO 14001
* Report to top management on the performance of Health and Safety metrics and the Environmental Management System, including recommendations for improvement
* Ensure that any contractors to site receive appropriate induction training
* Ensure compliance to Health and Safety legislation across the business, including advising on best working practices
* To be responsible for the investigation process, including remedial action of all incidents and accidents
* Ensure risk assessments are conducted for all areas of the business
* Assist in designing, implementing, and delivering environmental, Health and Safety-related training
* Conduct system and process audits in line with Company procedures
Skills and Experience
* IOSH/NEBOSH qualification (General / Environmental / Fire)
* Previous experience within a Health and Safety environment
* Fully computer literate, particularly regarding Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
* Reliable
* Self-motivated
* Required to work on own initiative whilst conducting allotted tasks.
* Capable of dealing with all levels within the business, customers and suppliers and could manage people and problems in a diplomatic way
* Well organised with the ability to maintain good standards
Hours
Monday to Thursday 8am to 5.15pm & Fri 8am to 12pm
