We are currently recruiting for an Estimating Manager to join our fantastic National Pavement Solutions business based from our site here at Tarmac Baggeridge close to Dudley in the West Midlands.
This role is based from the heart of the West Midlands and is commutable from Dudley, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Tamworth, Cannock, Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham, Kidderminster, Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury, Stourbridge, Stafford, Telford, Worcester, Redditch, Droitwich Spa, Sutton Coldfield, Coventry and Cheltenham.
Alternatively, if you live further afield in places such as Manchester, Sheffield, Leicester, Nottingham, London, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle-upon-Tyne then we would also like to hear from you as this role has the flexibility of Hybrid working.

Main ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you as the Estimating Manager will be required to manage teams of Estimators, Assistant Estimators and Trainee Estimators across your operational National Pavement Solutions business regional area of work.
Responsibilities of the role (not exhaustive):
- Contribute to the creation of; and work closely with the Regional Contracting Directors for the effective delivery of works; with a particular focus on new commercial opportunities securing new business growth across the Pave sector
- Oversee and manage the effective allocation of resources within the Pave programmes and planning
- Manage the production and submission of all tender information relating to commercial functions, including external commercial consultancy resources
- Maintain and develop customer relationships and optimising sustainable financial contribution within set targets and in accordance with regional targets and company policy, process and procedure
- Work closely with the Managing Quantity Surveyor to ensure that contractual risks are identified and mitigated. Communicate key pricing assumptions, opportunities and risks to enable financial valuation to be maximised
- Ensure full compliance with safety and business policies and procedures
- Ensure the effective allocation of operational resources and drives best practice and continuous improvements across the Pave business
- Providing leadership, mentoring, guidance and direction to the team, ensuring that all stated objectives, aims and targets are achieved
- Manage external relationships with both our customers, local authorities and governing bodies
In the role you will be in liaison with stakeholders across the business, ranging from:
Contracting Directors - General Managers – Commercial Managers – Quantity Surveyors – Accounts – Production – Operations – Technical – Distribution – HR – Industry Related Bodies

The Ideal CandidateTo be successful in this role of Estimating Manager, you as the ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position within the estimating, quantity surveying, heavy engineering, aggregates, asphalt, contracting, commercial or quarrying sector. You will also be able to demonstrate proven experience working within a global company or a similar environment as an Estimating Manager; as well as possess exemplary management, leadership, and communication skills.
Specific Requirements:
- ESSENTIAL - Management Qualification – ILM / NEBS / NVQ4
- A Degree in a role related discipline would essentially prove highly beneficial, or alternatively largely qualified by experience relating to industry standards and/or possess good Higher Education Achievement (HND/HNC Level)
- CSCS Qualification
- NEBOSH (desirable)
