Job description

WE ARE 200 years of history and over 2,300 employees strong. WE ARE a business loaded with opportunity and career progression. WE ARE innovators, designers, makers and engineers who manufacture and provide smart, efficient, and effective building products and solutions.

Through our customer relationships, diverse building product range and solutions, we enable the creation of inspirational homes, places and spaces for us all to live and work better. With eight core product categories, underpinned by expert design and technical services, we work with architects, builders, merchants and the wider construction supply chain to build the face of Britain.

We are fully committed to a net zero future and continue to invest in expertise and product development to manufacture more efficiently and sustainably. We pride ourselves on leading for new, innovative and sustainable products and solutions, both for today and for a new era of building.

To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for an Estimating Manager (Flooring) to come and join our team at our Dewsbury site (WF12 9EF) with some travel to our Sittingbourne site (ME10 3SL) as required.

As our Estimating Manager (Flooring), you will:

•    Take responsibility for the formation and integration of Ibstock Flooring Estimating services (bringing together the Supreme and Longley Estimating teams to maximise customer reach, satisfaction and financial contribution)
•    Ensure effective allocation of resource to optimise commercial opportunities across Beam & Block and Hollowcore teams, designing upskill plans and objectives as appropriate
•    Design and define elements of the Estimating strategy and associated deliverables, empowering direct reports to strive for success through stretching KPIs and regular evaluation of performance
•    Provide clarity to the Estimating team on their accountabilities and areas of ownership within the Sales lifecycle and inspiring autonomy to make decisions, a culture of development and sharing knowledge, and winning together
•    Maintain and develop customer relationships and optimising financial contribution alongside the Business Development lead (inc. reviewing base costs, projected margin, cross-selling opportunities and charges for changing requirements)
•    Promote and nurture a culture of ‘solution selling’ within the Estimating function, through deep understanding of the Ibstock product range, commercial insights / trends and curiosity around the market
•    Work cross functionally with Contracting & Surveying to mitigate risk and ensure full compliance with regulations
•    Drive ‘ways of working’ and process improvements to maximise performance, efficiencies, cost and customer satisfaction
•    Alongside the Business Development Team, review profitability issues / areas of concern and collaboratively working to find cost-effective and sustainable solutions (i.e. profit decline, loss of business through competitors, market insight)
•    Oversee and review the performance of all direct reports, conducting regular meetings to explore business opportunities, success/conversion rates and growth in category, alongside delivery of stretching KPIs and function deliverables
•    Implement a line management focus on personal and professional development with all direct reports, conducting regular review meetings and check-ins to explore growth prospects, stretch assignments and personal satisfaction in role/the workplace
•    Maintain internal training matrices and/or development plans, identifying any areas for improvement, development and coaching, and taking corrective action to rectify and resolve any concerns as necessary
•    Assist the Specialist Business Development Team in building a culture of high performance, high challenge, and continuous improvement

In order to be successful in this role, we would ideally like you to be/have:

•    Deep and embedded understanding of all aspects of the Precast Concrete Flooring market
•    Proven experience as a people manager and/or in a role of similar responsibility
