Estimator - Large Format Signage, Graphics and Joinery

We’re looking for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established signage and Large Format graphics business based in Glasgow. Within the role you’ll be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects involving Large FormatGraphics and signage, as well as custom made items built on site in the factory’s joinery workshop, so any knowledge of commercial fit out is highly advantageous.

This role requires a thorough understanding of materials, production processes, and industry standards to provide precise and competitive bids.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
  - Analyze project requirements and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
 - Calculate material, labour, and production costs for Large Format Signage, graphics, besoke joinery products.
 - Utilize estimation software and tools to streamline the estimation process.
Bid Preparation:
  - Prepare comprehensive and competitive bids for clients, ensuring all aspects of the project are covered.
 - Submit bids within required deadlines and follow up on pending quotes with clients.
- Work closely with the sales and project management teams to refine and adjust estimates as needed.
Supplier and Vendor Coordination:
  - Source and evaluate suppliers and vendors for materials and services required for projects.
  - Obtain quotes and negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain a database of reliable suppliers and their pricing.
Project Analysis and Consultation:
  - Review and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
  - Provide technical advice and support to clients and internal teams regarding project feasibility and cost implications.
 - Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Collaboration and Communication:
  - Collaborate with design, production, and installation teams to ensure accurate estimates and project alignment.
  - Communicate effectively with clients to clarify project details and address any concerns or questions.
 - Attend project meetings and site visits as necessary to gather information for accurate estimates.
Documentation & Reporting:
  - Maintain detailed records of all estimates, bids, and related correspondence.
  - Generate regular reports on estimation activities, success rates, and market trends.
  - Track and analyze project costs to refine future estimates and improve accuracy.
 
The Person

-  Proven experience in cost estimation, with advanced industry knowledge gained within a Large Format print, signage or joinery business.
- Knowledge of commercial fit out highly advantageous
- A track record of preparing accurate and competitive bids.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical capabilities
- Proficient with Estimation software and tools with excellent computer literacy skills
- An in-depth knowledge of production process and industry standards
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with a great attention to detail
- Occasional site visits may be required, so full driving licence preferable

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this role is negotiable based on the individual, with a higher baseline salary on offer for a more senior level experienced candidate.

Typical working hours are around production and are 07:30am-4:30pm Monday to Thursday, with an early finish on a Friday of 1:30pm, however some flexibility may be required based on the workload.
