Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our established Events Team as an Event Coordinator. In this role you will oversee the set-up, delivery and breakdown of our events to an exceptionally high standard, ensuring at all times the safety of both the visitors and artefacts within the Museum. You will be supervising and motivating our diverse team of Evening Event Assistants using your natural leadership skills to provide them with effective briefings pre and post event, recognising the importance of both conveying and seeking constructive feedback. This is an active role for which a lot of walking and the performance of some light manual handling duties is required. Your time will be split between working at events, completing event operations administration and liaising with various stakeholders (both virtually and in-person). Many of the events you will be working at take place at weekends and in the evening, sometimes finishing very late. Flexibility is key to this role, as events may also occur during the day, on bank holidays and at short notice. This is an annualised hours contract, working 925 hours per year. The actual working hours will generally equate to just over 18 hours per week on average. However, these hours will vary from week to week to commensurate with the requirements of the role and peak times. Our busiest months are usually June, September and December, so this is likely to be when you will be working more hours. About you You will have some previous experience of working in a busy events, hospitality or retail environment You will be competent at performing routine administrative duties and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. You will be able to manage your time effectively, working closely with the Event Operations Manager to organise your tasks on a weekly basis. You will demonstrate exemplary customer service and communication skills, which you will use when interacting with guests, colleagues and suppliers.
