Job description

NPL is a world-leading National Laboratory. On a global scale, we’re helping combat issues such as climate control and disease, and we’re committed to national security and prosperity.

Every year NPL runs around 160 high impact events of many kinds to promote our work, products and services and engage diverse audiences, customers and stakeholders.

Based within our Marketing and Communications team, you’ll work closely with colleagues across many functions to support the delivery of large corporate events and exhibitions for up to 800 people.

You will be involved through the full life cycle of events from identifying venues, and arranging logistics to the set up of stands and exhibitions, including AV and remote viewing.

You will be a key point of liaison with stakeholders, customers, suppliers and exhibitors to ensure delivery runs smoothly.

Throughout the planning and preparation process, you will assess event goals and provide professional advice and expertise to continually optimise end delivery. You will then analyse and follow up event feedback including recommending future improvements.

Request

  • You have previous event management/coordination experience and a track record in customer facing roles.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills are essential.
  • You will be a driven, pro-active self-starter with solid organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Your IT skills will include knowledge of web based applications such as Eventbrite, Excel, Word and Publisher.
  • A current full clean driving license is required (to drive a large commercial vehicle under 7.5 tonnes).
  • Some event work is outside core hours, so occasional unsociable hours including overnight stays and weekends will be required.
  • You will have a strong focus on health and safety across all aspects of our work and delivery
  • You will be expected to be on-site. Although working from home is an option, it will be limited, this role requires you to be on site for event delivery most days.
  • Please note - this role requires a lot of physical activity including event and stand set up. Training will be provided.

NPL offers competitive rewards and benefits. Flexible working and social activities are embedded in our culture to creative a positive work-life balance. Please see our careers website for more information.
