Job description

Examinations Officer

We are working with a multi-academy Trust in sourcing an Examination Officer to be responsible for the overall smooth running of internal and external examinations across all sites, ensuring that all related administration and preparation is undertaken. You will report to and assist the Trust Exams Manager, where directed, to support the delivery of internal and external examinations across the Trust's secondary schools. For this reason, you must be able to drive and have your own vehicle.

This is a term-time only role (plus three additional weeks), which equates to 41 weeks per year, and is 37 hours per week. Hours are generally 8am to 4pm, but during exam times there is often the need to stay later and then take TOIL. The additional three weeks are made up of five inset days, four mandatory days to be worked on the Wed/Thur of GCE/A Level and GCSE results day in August. The six other days to be worked in agreement with the Line Manager.

Full-time equivalent salary on offer is £23,801 to £25,547 - dependent upon experience, with the actual pro-rata salary being £21,522 to £23,101. Benefits to include:

Duties to include:

  • Liaise re pupil examination entries and make accurate entries, ensuring all deadlines are met and late fees minimised.
  • Disseminate examination information to staff, pupils and parents/carers.
  • Assist in the processing of invigilation timetables, for both internal and external exams/assessments.
  • Help and support with invigilation training, ensuring that up-to-date information is disseminated.
  • Liaise with examination boards to ensure the accurate administration of all examinations, including ensuring compliance with examination board rules, coursework requirements, storage of examination papers, the setting up of secure download systems and the timely dispatch of completed scripts.
  • Manage all internal mocks exams/assessments for years KS3, KS4 and KS5. .
  • Help and support the teams on results day with the downloading and analysis of results.

The ideal candidate will have previous school experience (preferably in a secondary setting); be passionate in the belief of every pupil's potential; possess significant administrative experience; be educated to Level 2 or 3 Diploma (or equivalent); have good IT skills; have excellent verbal and written communication; and be organised and able to meet deadlines. Bromcom experience is desirable, but not essential, as specific training will be given.
