Head Chef
We are seeking a creative member to join our kitchen team.
Fins is a vibrant Beach Cafe in Sandown. After winning the 2023 Red Funnel Gold Cafe of the year award we have seen our business grow which has opened up an exciting Head Chef job opportunity.
Experience in the catering industry in a high-volume environment and be up to date with industry trends are essential.
This role will suit an individual who can display the following attributes:
- Directing the food preparation process and delegating tasks
- Cooking and preparing high quality dishes
- Have creative influence in the development of the menu
- Ensuring food quality and excellent standards are maintained for all dishes created
- Assisting with determining food inventory needs, stocking and ordering
- Ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines
- Present food artistically
- Create daily specials
- Keep up to working in fast paced environments
- Available to work weekends
- Attention to detail and great communication skills, in both giving and receiving instruction, during service
- Culinary training and 2 years experience in a similar venue
- Ability to follow prep lists and ordering sheets
- A true passion for food and developing your skills alongside a team legends
- No job is too small for you, no egos too big
What your week will look like:
- Prepping food for fast menu creation on shift
- Working 8-5pm 5 days per week
- Performing cleaning duties
- Seasonal menu development
- Working with management on our tasting experience
- Baking
- Meeting with management reporting on issues and developments
