An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Export Control Officer, to join our Rolls Royce Submarines business in Derby.
We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.
As an Export Control Officerand Subject Matter Expert (SME) , you'll be part of a team providing knowledge, guidance & advice on Export Control and sanctions matters. You will Operate within defined global processes & local policies to address business needs, collaborating with cross functional stakeholders as required. Seeking to improve processes where needed to enhance our Export Control compliance and providing key support to Rolls-Royce Submarines Limited (RRSL) in collaboration with the wider Defence Export Control and Sanctions Team.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What’s you’ll be doing:
- Providing day to day SME Advice and guidance on Export Control and sanctions related queries, regulatory and procedural requirements
- Implementing strategies for Export Control and sanctions compliance in line with defined standards and policies.
- Driving process improvements in support of strategic and tactical requirements.
- Delivering training and communication on Export Control and sanctions.
- Appling for licences and approvals from the appropriate Regulator (UK, US and other foreign regulators as appropriate). Ensure all licence approvals are loaded to the appropriate IT systems and the key stakeholders are informed
- Supporting audits and assurance activities

- Specialist knowledge and application of UK and International Export Control and sanctions regulations.
- Analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex regulations and provide compliant solutions
- Ability to work with limited supervision in a dynamic working environment
- Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
- Compliance background in a highly regulated industry

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
