Summary

You’ll support the External Affairs team and colleagues across Wales to build strong external relationships with elected representatives and key stakeholders, support our policy and advocacy work, and provide External Affairs advice and support to our property and consultancy teams.

As this role covers the whole of Wales, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.

What you'll be doing

As part of the External Affairs team in Wales you'll be instrumental in shaping how National Trust Cymru is seen in Wales and the wider world. You'll support the External Affairs Consultants for North and South Wales in building relationships with politicians, key stakeholders, and decision makers in Wales, support with coordination of site visits, stakeholder meetings and communications, and monitoring of our engagement.  


You'll have the opportunity to engage with National Trust Cymru’s campaign and advocacy work by providing support in the development of policy briefings and helping with the organisation and planning of events.  


You'll be highly organised and structured in your work – managing and recording our relationships with key politicians, stakeholders and decision-makers as well as developing effective processes to share knowledge and information from the Trust to the external world. 


An experienced communicator, in writing and in person, you'll be an effective champion for the National Trust and our cause, representing the Trust to external audiences.  


You'll contribute to internal processes including providing an External Affairs newsletter internally and externally and develop good relationships across the Trust, including with colleagues based in Northern Ireland and in the Whole Trust External Affairs Team.

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for a highly motivated External Affairs professional with an understanding and experience of the political and stakeholder landscape in Wales.  


The ability to communicate in Welsh is beneficial for this role. Further support will be provided for continued development of Welsh language skills. Please complete the attached Welsh Language Competency Assessment and upload this alongside your CV.
