We are looking to appoint a full-time Teacher for our EYFS/KS1 ‘Pod’ Classroom. The Pod is an individual classroom space which has been set up to support mainstream pupils with EHCPs who have complex SEN eg Autism with associated social and sensory needs, pre-verbal or at early stages of language development, developmental delays (including some physical needs eg toileting, eating, dressing, motor skills etc). The position will be starting in September 2024 and there will be a team of Learning Support Assistants working alongside the class teacher.
A small group of Year R pupils will access the Pod for half of the day and a mixed Year 1/2 group for the other half of the day.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will need to be:
· Able to think on their feet
· Flexible in their approach and creative in the delivery of tasks / activities
· Able to remain calm and consistent at times where children may appear dysregulated, using clear strategies to de-escalate
· Liaise with and follow advise provided by other professionals

Essential Skills / Experience
· Qualified Teacher Status.
· Experience of working with children with Autism / Complex needs.
· Ability to work well as part of a team.
· Ability to support the development of key strategies which work for individual pupils within their mainstream classroom through liaison with class teachers.
· The ability to develop children’s independence and following of adult led tasks.
· Experience of using a range of visual support systems to support pupil communication eg PECS, choosing boards, individual visual timetables etc.
· An understanding of the EHCP / Annual Review system and how to draw individual targets out of these plans and create small step targets to meet the longer term outcomes.
· Be flexible and adapt positively to change.
. Show initiative and work independently.
· Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
Desirable Skills
· Understanding of EYFS and KS1 curriculum.
· Speech and language training eg ELKLAN, PECs.
· TEACCH training.
· Experience of working in partnership with parents.
· Autism training.
· Training in how to safeguard pupils with SEN.
