Proman is looking for a Facade Design Manager in London.
The Facade Design Manager will be involved in the following daily tasks which all lead to the company successfully delivering the highest quality project in a timely manner. Reporting to the Facade Director, you will be responsible for leading the design team and managing the design processes for the facade sub-contract package.
Job Description:
- Set up and manage the design processes.
- Lead, manage and motivate the design team: internal design coordinators and drafters, and external parties (structural engineers, drafters).
- Plan workload allocation and check output to ensure the drawings are issued in line with the delivery programme.
- Maintain a record month on month of design costs and ensure this is within budget.
- Ensure drawings are reviewed internally and that a common approach is maintained across the team.
- Make sure the information is shared/available to the appropriate parties.
- Liaise with clients/CMT on design-related matters.
- Chair, lead and issue meeting minutes for the client’s design team meeting and any meetings relating to design processes and performance.
- Manage the issue of RFI by the design team.
- Establish and maintain effective methods of communication between the teams involved in design work throughout the project.
- Maintain records and documents throughout the project (specifically the DRS).
- Assess, mitigate and manage risks connected with design.
- Ensure the design is in line with the ERs.
- Raise any change or client/CMT request with the Commercial team to issue a variation.
- Ensure the design work meets health and safety legislation, sustainable building standards and industry codes of practice
Requirements:
- Experienced as Design Manager with at least 5 years experience with facades, preferebly with a facade specialist contracto.
- Stone experience preferable but not mandatory.
- Extensive experience in facades including but not limited to SFS, cladding, bracketry.
- Strong manager profile - leading, planning and organising/motivating a team.
- Good AutoCAD, BIM and 3D design software such as Revit skills would be a plus.
- Able to understand technical drawings and methods of manufacture.
