We are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join a Headington-based Oxford University Department as a Temporary Facilities/Laboratory Support Officer. This full-time position will be to start immediately for 2 months initially.
As a Facilities/Laboratory Support Officer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the seamless functioning of the research laboratories. Your duties include coordinating services and maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment, promptly responding to breakdowns or emergencies. You will liaise with service engineers during repairs, manage stocks of laboratory consumables, and handle the collection and delivery of orders within our research facilities. Additionally, you will play a vital role in managing dark room facilities, overseeing supplies of personal protective equipment, and facilitating storage in cold rooms and for cryogenic materials.
In terms of building and facilities management, you will liaise with local managers and external contractors to ensure the efficient running of our site. Day-to-day responsibilities include car parking permit allocation, locker assignments, and assisting in meeting room setups.
The successful candidate will possess a science background, effective team-working skills, and a flexible approach to work. Experience in practical problem-solving, a good understanding of health and safety requirements in a research environment, and competency in IT (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential.
