We have an opportunity for a well organised Facilities Manager to ensure our properties and facilities are aligned with relevant Health & Safety, Environmental, Fire & Security standards. If you're passionate about historic buildings, working with people and delivering excellent service, please read on.
Accommodation is provided to the postholder for the proper or better performance of their duties in accordance with Trust criteria and HMRC rules
What it's like to work hereWe’re a friendly and professional team who pride ourselves on a warm welcome, fantastic customer service, and we’re passionate about our heritage. We’re busy all year round with 360,000 visitors, helped by an amazing team of over 400 volunteers.
You'll report into our Visitor Operations Manager and directly manage a small team of staff and volunteers. Specialists such as a Buildings Surveyor are on hand to provide support and manage complex projects.
You'll be one of our duty managers on a rota basis which includes weekend working (currently 1 weekend every 10 weeks). There are also occasions when you'll need to supervise contractors before or after normal operating hours. The post is offered as a Key Representative role, which covers the hours when the property is closed, between 5pm and 9am on a 1 week on 2 weeks off basis.

What you'll be doingYou’ll be responsible for all aspects of facilities management across our properties, and be the portfolio lead for health and safety and fire safety, making sure we are safe and compliant.
For us, facilities aren’t a back office function, and communication is key. You’ll be happy to work across all teams to proactively plan a maintenance schedule but also enjoy problem solving when something breaks or goes wrong. You will provide regular updates to teams, being realistic about timescales, resources and budgets.
You’ll enjoy being hands on, and tackling each day as it comes. Your day might involve looking into a problem, incident or accident on site and taking appropriate action or supervising various contractors and making sure they are doing their work safely, to spec, and on budget. You might be back in the office planning projects, checking budgets or putting contract or project paperwork together.
You'll be comfortable using different IT software, such as Microsoft Outlook, Webex, and NT Analytics. You'll be the portfolio lead for our Property System, making sure that is up to date, and regularly check compliance on our Vantage tracker system.
