JOB DESCRIPTIONReporting to - Principal EngineerShift Patterns - Days only (Mon-Fri) The engine testing department features a plethora of equipment for a wide variety of testing applications, including engine, vehicle and driveline systems. From measuring legislative gaseous emissions to electronic drive unit battery simulators. This range of equipment requires frequent maintenance, servicing, calibration and repair as required. The Powertrain Facilities Technician has a critical role in ensuring both planned and reactive technical support is given in all aspects of the IC engines department.Role & Responsibilities Perform reactive repairs on a variety of test equipment. Perform scheduled maintenance, servicing and calibration tasks on equipment. Assist with developing engineering solutions to day-to-day technical issues faced by the engineering team when adopting test equipment. Typically, this will involve liaising with supporting staff; engineers, supervisors and the leadership team on a technical level. Building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers Order parts and maintaining stock of critical items Risk assessments & method statementsQUALIFICATIONS City and Guild in Automotive or Engineering HNC/HND an advantage, but time-served relevant experience is the overriding factorExperience Experience in a problem solving, practical role is a necessity Test bed experience in an automotive testing environment Experience supporting mechanical and electrical systems maintenance and calibration programmes. Experience in delivering upgrade projects and dyno systems installation would be beneficial Experience of AVL Puma, Horiba STARS and/or Kratzer PATools test automation systems is desirable. Experience and knowledge of ISO17025 calibration is desirable Knowledge of calibration, service and repair of emissions measurement equipment is advantageous.Skills Mechanical and electrical systems repair competent Equipment service & calibrations Equipment fault-finding Test bed and equipment calibration and maintenance Basic IT skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and Word Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skillsPersonal Behaviours Excellent fault diagnostic and repair skills Autonomous, enthusiastic and self-driven Methodical and thorough Flexible and adaptable Calm under pressure Excellent communicator Highly motivated team player High level of confidentiality and integrity Good understanding of H&S practises Other Full UK driving licence & own transport Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check NOTE: This position be will based on site ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONFor you, as a potential team member, we believe that the international and diverse nature of our business combined with the passion, energy and friendliness of our people create a great place to work.
