Location: Craigielea Children's Centre, Aberdeen
Duration: Permanent, Full Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

job purpose/about the role

To deliver a Statutory Social Work Service by working as part of a team to undertake direct work and to offer practical assistance, support and guidance to families with children who have been assessed as vulnerable and in need to enable them
to maximise their potential

The post is within the Intensive Support Craigielea Team

Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme Record (PVG) or willing to become registered.

• Experience of working with children and families or other relevant experience
• Good practice, recognizing the support needs of children, young people and families;
specifically promoting dignity respect and independent living and exhibit unconditional
positive regard
• The ability to work independently and to operate as a member of a team and take responsibility for the environment and the safety of children and their families.
• Advocating on behalf of children and their families by ensuring that their views are
taken into account and that their rights are promoted and protected
• Ability to liaise, attend and contribute at meetings with other professionals and agencies on behalf of children and their families to promote the welfare of the child
• Awareness of Child Development theories
• Promote positive proactive responses to challenging behaviour
