Job Introduction

At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with substance use issues. As a Family and Carers Recovery Worker on the Young Persons and Young Adults team, you'll make a real difference to their lives as you develop the personal, flexible, and realistic support packages they need to help turn things around. We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Family Worker to join The Young Persons, Young Adults, Families and Carers Drug and Alcohol Service working in Wakefield.   

As a Family and Carers Recovery Worker we offer a starting salary of £24,150 with annual pay progression up to £28,252 (You may be offered a higher starting salary dependent on experience)

Role Responsibility

To provide high quality support and interventions to family members and carers of people who use drugs and alcohol. This includes working with adults, young people and families who have been affected by substance use to achieve their goals and improve outcomes for the whole family. The Family and Carers Recovery Workers will carry a case load and provide screening, comprehensive assessments, risk assessment and risk management, recovery planning and review. They will provide outreach services including home visits, deliver 1-1 key working sessions, as well as semi and structured groups to support families.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll have extensive experience in handling significant caseloads in a busy environment as a Family Worker or similar, you'll have a broad understanding of Drugs and Alcohol and the Recovery Agenda. It's an extremely varied role so flexibility a track record of The Drugs and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS), compliance and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be essential.  We are looking to recruit candidates with proven experience of working with young people, young adults, families and carers, excellent communication skills and ideally a vocational qualification such as an NVQ 3 or equivalent.

The successful applicant will be carrying out duties including the facilitation of workshops, compiling risk assessments, risk management plans and care planning.
