Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.


Bath and North East Somerset Council is currently seeking to recruit Family Group Conference Co-ordinators in their independent service which sits within the Family Support Plus team. 2x 0.8FTE temporary contracts until April 2025.


The Family Group Conference model is used to bring family members and friends together to look at how they can collectively help provide safe, supportive, and sustainable solutions to the problems being experienced in caring for children within the family. As a co-ordinator, you will be independent but work alongside social workers and other professionals, to engage families who are currently accessing Early Help and Children’s Centre’s, child protection teams and children in care teams.


Your role is to engage the families and identify the network. You would then organise the informal meeting and assist the family to be able to come to their own decisions about how they will care for the child/ren utilising the family’s own skills, strengths, and personal knowledge.


As an FGC co-ordinator, you will understand the importance of facilitating the participation of young people and their families. Good communication and interpersonal skills will be essential for this position. Conflict resolution skills are also vital to the position in order that differences of opinion can be expressed constructively.


Your work hours require a degree of flexibility to fit to the needs of the families, so could include evening and weekend work as necessary.
