Family Group Worker

The Employer is: HOMESTART DOWN DISTRICT NEWCASTLE SCHEME. Family Group Worker To work alongside existing staff to facilitate an educational programme for mum and children under 5 years of age. Setting up and overseeing development activities, setting up various settings daily for mother and baby development groups in the community. Liasing with existing staff to risk assess room, provide snack, tidy and clean, complete daily paperwork and transfer information to Homestart systems. Provide emotional and social support to families, health and safety and liase with outside agencies. Help develop themes for groups and assist families practically in group when needed. To welcome new families to participate and encourage collaboration in group overseeing children’s safety and working alongside colleagues and volunteers attending group. Have good awareness of confidentiality and be able to attend an induction and training within the organisation. .

Has basic literacy and IT skills and a polite, friendly manner. Can work as part of a team and is reliable and punctual.

Have a qualification in Health and Social Care or working towards one.

Have level 3 in childcare or working towards a qualification in child care.

Have previous experience working in a child care setting.
