Our Purpose
Our Family Time Service provides support for looked after children and children who have been assessed as being at risk of harm, to have safe and secure face to face managed contact with immediate and extended family members. Under the Children Act of 1989, the Local Authority has a duty to promote contact between a child in the care of the local authority and the family.
An opportunity has arisen us to recruit to 3 Family Time workers and 6 Casual Family Time workers, within our Family Time Service. The sessions will include some evening and weekend work as required, to meet the needs of the service
Your duties will include but not be limited to:
- To make all the practical arrangements for the sessions to take place safely in the best interests of the child which may include transporting children and working flexible to meet the needs and demands of the service
- To provide child focused supervision of childrens Family Time within the terms of court orders in partnership with parents and carers
- To produce concise, relevant, and accurate recordings of the sessions in line with the policies and procedures
- To assist families to receive support by role modelling and the transferring of practical skills to support the parents in meeting the needs of the children

This is a demanding, but rewarding, role and will require someone who is passionate about supporting some of our most vulnerable children and families. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate resilience, dedication and passion for the children and families within the borough.

- Good communicator, able to engage children and families
- Can build positive relationships with children and put them at the centre of everything they do
- Relevant related experience of working with children and families especially around safeguarding

- Ability to plan and manage often stressful situations
