We are urgently seeking for an experience Poultry Farm Manager to work with our client based in Woodhall Spa, LN10. This is a permanent role, offering a high competitive salary, with accommodation and a FARM MANAGER bonus scheme. It is essential that you have a previous involvement in field, sound decision maker, be prepared to undertake NVQs, people management skills, full driving licence, budget management. Previous supervisory experience and knowledge of environmental issues is desirable. Overall responsibility for the management of a Company Breeder Farm, including all aspects of husbandry, ensuring that eggs produced are of the correct standard and specification. The position encompasses commercial aspects of managing the farm, which involves working to budgets, targets and management of people.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- To gain a full understanding of poultry of the company .
- Contribute to that department/ add value by developing requisite skills in this area in line with the company competency framework.
- To work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.
- To manage effectively the welfare of each flock, following Company stock management programs and guide lines, such that the highest possible production, hatchability and livability is attained.
- To follow recognized procedures (e.g. litter and blood sampling) in monitoring closely the flock health, such that problems are recognized at the earliest opportunity and reported to the Area Manager.
- To check on flock performance daily, and to follow all Company reporting and administrative procedures, such that the required information is recorded and reported completely, accurately and promptly.
- To take responsibility for all farm equipment, ensuring that it is in correct working order, such that it is available and able to perform the tasks required of it. This will include some minor maintenance by farm staff and the management of the activities of contractors in checking that their work is to the required standards.
- To manage and maintain the housekeeping of the farm, including dwellings and gardens, such that it is to the highest standards of cleanliness hygiene and tidiness at all times.
- To manage feed stocks and order feed on a timely basis such that the correct levels and budgetary targets are maintained. To monitor the quality of feed delivered ensuring that any substandard is rejected. To ensure that feed samples are taken on a daily basis.
- To prepare for and manage all livestock movements including intakes and depletion's, such that injury or distress to, and loss of, the birds is minimized.
- To constantly seek improvements to the running of the business, farm and results, and to communicate suggestions for improvements to the Field Management team.
- To manage and train all farm staff in such a way that they are motivated people, capable of being effectively deployed to the required duties on the farm. This also includes managing the activities of contractors, farm services teams and cleaning teams.
- To manage the manning of the farm, within Company establishment levels, including the booking of holidays for all farm staff, such that there is minimum disruption to the flocks performance through under-staffing.
- To carry out recruitment of hourly-paid farm staff, when authorized and within Company establishment levels and guidelines, such that the right caliber of people are appointed, taking into consideration the health and background of candidates, liaising with the relevant Company Personnel Departments for guidance as required.
- To provide or arrange for alarm call cover such that emergencies can be responded to promptly 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- To assist, where applicable, in the appointment of Assistant Managers for the farm and, once appointed, to train and develop them such that they are able to manage all aspects of the farm, to the standards required in your absence. The aim should be for all Assistant Managers to be competent to manage their own farm in the future.
- To manage and maintain all farm hygiene procedures such that Company
- Policy in respect of stock, egg handling and sanitization, employees, visitors and buildings are adhered to at all times.
- To manage and maintain the security of the farm such that the fabric of the farm, the stock and equipment are kept safely and securely at all times. Any suspicious occurrences are to be reported to the police and/or management immediately.
- To maintain the required Health and Safety Standards on the farm, such that all operations are carried out in a safe manner and the risks to all employees and visitors are minimized. To brief all farm employees and visitors of their own responsibilities for maintaining Health and Safety at all times and the reporting procedures for accidents and dangerous occurrences.
- To control expenditure in respect of labour, operating supplies, utilities and all other relevant areas such that budgets are kept within Company guidelines.
- To ensure that you are contactable at all times, except for holidays, by the use of a radio pager, where required. All calls should be responded to promptly.
- To undertake other reasonable duties as required to maintain the running of the farm and business to the highest standards.
