We are looking for positive, compassionate and caring Female Support Workers to join our team in Westcliff-on-Sea on a permanent full or part time basis - we have a variety of contracts available including Waking Night.
As a Support Worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts. You will have the ability to work flexibly across the weekdays, weekends and bank holidays depending on your availability and the hours being offered to you. Shifts vary including mornings, afternoons, evenings, sleep-ins and waking nights. Flexibility is therefore essential for us to be able to meet the needs of the people we support.
You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £61.20 for any sleep-in shifts carried out. The payment for sleep-ins is non-contractual.
What does a Support Worker do?
Our Westcliff service provides support to eight unique individuals who have profound and multiple learning disabilities as well as other complex healthcare needs. As a Support Worker you will be expected to ensure the people we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life. You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality. Typical responsibilities may include:
- Supporting people to live independently – budget management, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
- Excellent communication skills and Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships. Understanding non-verbal communication and communication aids.
- Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
- Personal care - all aspects of personal care in daily life from feeding support during meals to washing and dressing.
