Role: Commercial Finance Business Partner
A key member of the Senior Management team who will develop costing strategies, track spending, and ensure the accuracy and compliance of cost records. Work across departments to analyse cost variance and drive cost control and cost-down initiatives. Play a vital role in costing new business and scenario modelling, providing valuable insights to support decision making at both strategic and operational level.
Essential Skills and Experience
Fully qualified accountant - CIMA/ACCA/ACA accreditation or equivalent
Successfully lead projects across multiple departments.
Worked in a manufacturing environment with ERP and real-time data.
The ability and track record in using continuous improvement methods to drive change and improve financial position.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clarify and communicate complex issues to non-financial people.
Strong goal-orientated person with developed analytic and problem-solving skills.
Able to demonstrate good presentation and networking skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Track departmental spend and variance analysis against budgets and cost reduction targets.
- Lead cost awareness, digitalisation of real-time finance data against financial KPIs across the business. Prepare monthly reporting of the results on key financial drivers against specific cost control and cost-down metrics.
- Cost simulation to benchmark, scenario plan, and model changes.
- Supporting working capital monitoring, reporting, and scenario planning processes.
- Establish costing methods and validate the cost of manufacturing processes.
- Update product costs, audit, and ongoing monitoring of the costs.
- Work closely with the Sales department, business development managers, and the head of NPI to cost new business. Ensuring a consistent costing method, cost targets, and stretch targets are agreed at the beginning of the project, and monitoring is ongoing to reach the best financial outcome.
- Working with operations on inventory and WIP auditing.
- Monitor working capital and cash flow, working with senior management to meet credit and debtor targets. This will also require good relationship management with key suppliers and customers.
- Work in partnership with department heads to reduce cost variance and collaborate on cost-driven continuous improvement projects.
- Working with commercial team to review and agree monthly sales forecast & budgets.
- Production of monthly profitability forecast and annual budget.
- Working with members of the Senior Management team to produce monthly forecast and budget working capital, balance sheet and cashflow model.
- Prepare capex investment appraisals.
- Post-capex investment implementation review.
- A core member of the ERP upgrade implementation team. Which will include the design and development of financial reporting for the business.
Usual Hours of Work
£50k DOE
Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (With some flexibility at this level)
5% Contributory Pension + 3 x Life Cover
