Job Title: Finance Projects Manager

Location: Head Office, Leicestershire

The Projects Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and completion of projects within Next’s Finance Division. This role requires overseeing all aspects of projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Project Manager acts as the main point of contact between the project team and stakeholders, coordinating resources, managing risks, and facilitating effective communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Backlog
    • Supporting systems department and senior leadership team in backlog prioritisation
    • Conduct monthly senior leadership meetings, to align priorities and agree next steps
    • Coordinate with systems team to align resources
  2. Project Planning and Initiation:
    • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
    • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
    • Identify project stakeholders and establish communication plans.
  3. Project Execution and Monitoring:
    • Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams.
    • Track project progress against the plan and make necessary adjustments.
    • Manage project budgets and ensure financial accountability.
    • Conduct regular status meetings and provide updates to stakeholders.
  4. Risk and Issue Management:
    • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Resolve project issues promptly to minimise impact on the project.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  5. Quality Assurance:
    • Establish and maintain project quality standards.
    • Conduct project reviews and post-mortem analyses to identify lessons learned.
    • Implement process improvements based on feedback and project outcomes.
  6. Communication and Reporting:
    • Maintain clear and effective communication with project team members and stakeholders.
    • Prepare and present project reports, including status updates and performance metrics.
    • Foster a collaborative and transparent project environment.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience as a project manager, with a proven track record of successfully managing/delivering projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and project management tools (e.g. Smartsheets, AzureDevOps).

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience of working in a Finance environment
  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Databricks for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • CIMA or ACCA qualified.
