Reporting directly to the Finance Director the post holder will be pivotal in driving significant changes within the finance function to improve efficiency, effectiveness and strategic alignment. Specifically, the postholder will be responsible for ensuring the Finance Transformation Project is planned, managed and successfully implemented. The position requires an experienced professional with the right mix of operational knowledge and skills and change experience to radically transform finance. The postholder will need to be able to flex between operational and change activities, possess a high level of energy and tenacity to get things done.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate and Strategic
- Support the Director of Finance in setting up the Finance Transformation Programme, including improvement initiatives
- Produce, implement, monitor and regularly report on project progress against delivery plan
- Ensure good communication of departmental priorities to the wider management team and stakeholders to manage demand and expectations
Operational
- Review and document existing finance business processes, identifying inefficiencies in existing finance processes and potential solutions for discussion and agreement
- Lead initiatives to streamline and optimise problems identified, including reengineering processes, implementing quick win changes to existing systems or redesigning organisational structures with the Director of Finance
- Assess the finance technology stack and identify opportunities to leverage new systems to enhance finance operations, such as new financial planning and analysis (FP&A) tools
- Lead change management efforts to ensure the successful adoption of new processes, technologies and ways of working within the finance function, including stakeholder engagement, communication planning and training programmes
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of Finance Transformation initiatives, monitoring progress, identifying areas for improvement and making adjustments as necessary to achieve outcomes
- Assess risks associates with Finance Transformation activities and develop mitigation strategies to address them, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal controls throughout the transformation process
- Collaborate closely with other business departments and support functions to ensure alignment and integration of Finance Transformation efforts
Management and Leadership
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to garner support and facilitate cooperation
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function, encouraging feedback, learning, and innovation to drive ongoing transformation efforts
- Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams involved in Finance Transformation activities
- Mentor and develop team members to build capabilities
Person Specification
- Qualified Accountant
- Significant operational finance and transformation experience
