Finance Transformation Lead

Your new company
I am looking to recruit an experienced Finance Transformation Lead on an interim basis (3 months) for the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) which is the Department for Business & Trade's arm's length body. The contract does have the potential to be extended and there is the option of working from home, with the occasional on-site meeting (Reading).
Your new role
TRA Finance team is a very busy, multi-functional, and high-performing part of the organisation, and they aim to deliver efficient and effective services to their stakeholders.
TRA does not currently have its own finance reporting tool and the management reports are based on Excel spreadsheets. TRA also procures its goods and services through a MoU with DBT Commercial.
To address the above, TRA's Head of Finance & Commercial is undertaking a Simplification project aimed at Finance Transformation through:

• Lead on ledger separation which is currently underway
• Simplifying our Purchase 2 Pay (P2P) processes such as rolling out GPC for less than
• Updating our finance policies to compliantly meet evolving business needs
• Simplifying our commercial landscape; and
• Improving our management reports to our ExCo by utilising our current tool (DataRails).
• This role will be integral in delivering the Simplification agenda and its associated time-bound tasks. The post holder will deliver the above in compliance with Managing Public Money (MPM), Cabinet Office Spend controls, commercial policies, TRA internal policies, and our grant-in-aid funding conditions.
  Key Accountabilities
• Taking ownership and delivering the tasks related to ledger separation, working closely with TRA's shared business services provider (UK SBS)
• Leading on process improvement initiatives such as using DataRails to streamline non-pay related budgets/forecasts/actuals reporting (management reporting)
• Lead on P2P simplification through developing an understanding of the current TRA processes, followed by exploring and implementing solutions to improve these
• Improve our current month-end processes through suggesting and implementing efficient delivery of month-end close
• Liaise with HMRC and OGDs as required to update our finance policies, feeding that to UKSBS to be implemented on Oracle
• Other ad hoc tasks such as supporting external audit with NAO during y/end pressure, supporting management accounts production for TRA's ExCo

• Experience of having planned and delivered Finance Transformation projects
• Minimum 3 years' experience delivering Finance Transformation projects or finance system implementation roles in the public sector
• Knowledge of Managing Public Money (MPM), Cabinet Office Spend Controls, and commercial processes
• Advanced Excel skills
• Preferred
• Experience of having prepared management accounts and supporting external audits
• Experience of developing and improving management reports using DataRails or similar tools
• CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
• What you\'ll get in return
  A 3-month contract with the potential to be extended, the role is working inside IR35 and paying a competitive day rate through an Umbrella company. Offers working at home option. Sponsorship is not available.
