Salary: £55,000 up to £65,343 dependent upon experience

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

Security Level: SC

The Role

 

The Financial Accounting Manager will report into the Head of Financial Reporting and Treasury and will be responsible for managing the CAA’s Financial Accounting Team.

 

The role holder will be responsible for ensuring the Financial Accounting team meet the deadlines and deliverables of the year end in a timely manner and at the expected standard. Ownership of the preparation of the Group’s Statutory Accounts sits within this role as well as the management of team members to ensure the Groups various Subsidiary accounts are also prepared on time and to the expected standard.

 

The role holder will also be responsible for the development of the Financial Accounting team, the maintenance of the Fixed assets register and the advancement of the CAA’s accounting policies & processes.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for ensuring the timely management of monthly balance sheet reconciliations across the Group
  • Supporting team members in their efforts to analyse data from balance sheet items and apply accounting knowledge to resolve reconciliation issues
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly balance sheet reports and debtor summary reports for the CAA Group for distribution to Senior Finance management and inclusion in Finance reports to ExCo and the Board
  • Responsible for the preparation of the CAA Group’s Annual Report & Accounts. This will involve collating data from various business areas and reviewing it to establish whether it is correct. It will also involve analysing large quantities of data and using judgement to determine how the data needs to be presented
  • Responsible for mentoring team members through the preparation of the Annual Statutory Accounts for the CAA’s subsidiary undertakings, CAA International Limited, ASSI and CAA International’s Malaysia Branch operations
  • Take responsibility for managing the engagement with the external audit teams during the interim, final and systems audits undertaken by the external auditor, ensuring that deliverables and deadlines are met by the team
  • Responsible for making sure the timely submission of the Whole of Government Accounts to HM Treasury Dept and the BPC submission of ASSI to the DFT
  • Responsible for the line management and development of the Financial Accounting Team
  • Ownership of the fixed assets register and leases database in line with the Group’s accounting policies
  • Apply accounting judgment when assessing projects and assets for capitalisation in line with Group’s accounting policies
  • Ownership of the creation and maintenance of Group’s accounting policies
  • Own the development and implementation of improvements to finance processes & accounting policies to enhance overall financial control as part of the department’s continual improvements objectives
  • Management of all Financial Accounting and reporting activities/deliverables

 

About You

 

The following knowledge/experience is considered vital for the role:

  • Refined problem-solving skills
  • Detailed knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
  • Experience of preparing Group financial statements
  • Advanced computer literacy, primarily excel and working with ERP solutions, particularly reporting
  • Experience of using complex accounting packages
  • An ability to communicate effectively in a confident and clear manner
  • An ability to work independently
  • Able to manage both their own time and work to set deadlines but also those of others
  • Experience mentoring colleagues
  • ACA, CIMA or ACCA fully qualified

 

The following knowledge/experience is considered desirable for the role:

  • Experience line managing/developing team members
  • Experience in using SAP BusinessByDesign

 

Additional Information

 

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

 

To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.
