They are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious candidate who is keen to learn in this new role for the business. The role will support an outstanding CFO and the wider business as the company grows within the UK and internationally. The CFO is hugely supportive and good to work for and is very keen to develop this person.
You will be a qualified accountant ACA/ ACCA/CIMA or equivalent and work with the CFO to develop and improve the support the finance team gives to the business. The role will cover monthly management accounts and variance analysis, working with department heads to track and manage spend and cash. The role will also be responsible for the day-to-day relationships with external service providers, ensuring smooth flows of information.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the month-end process to the required timeframe alongside the Accounts Administrator. This includes reviewing or preparing final journals and preparing management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow) including cost-base variance analysis for review and discussion with CFO.
- Ownership and maintenance of the Financial Model, including updating with actual numbers on a monthly basis, maintaining up-to-date cashflow and working capital forecasts.
- Supporting the CFO to deliver the planning cycle (annual budget and reforecasts).
- Preparation of schedules for, and co-ordination of the annual audit process including liaising with external advisors on corporation tax return and R&D tax computations.
- Management of overseas VAT obligations, working with external agencies.
- Supporting the company’s grant process as required including checking and upload of quarterly claims for grants, working with the technical teams to ensure that claims are complete and correct and supporting grant applications by providing appropriate financial projections.
- Support the business in systems changes, including becoming a finance system super-user and working with providers to develop reports and capabilities where required.
- Implement processes and controls improvements and efficiencies, creating an environment of continuous improvement.
