JOB TITLE: Firewall Engineering Shift Lead
SALARY: £66,861 - £74,290
LOCATION(S): Manchester, Edinburgh or Halifax
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site. We work on a rotating 12-hour shift pattern, in recognition a shift allowance will be paid in addition to salary.
About this opportunity
Welcome to our hardworking team dedicated to providing vital Checkpoint firewall protection to the organisation’s networks. As a Shift Lead, you'll be a key person for any Firewall support and project requirements, including implementation, design activities, supporting and embedding best in class solutions.
Help us to successfully protect the 1 in 3 people who use our systems in the UK as well as our 10 million active online banking users.
Expect much of your time to be split between support and project work as we continually improve our offering to become the best bank for Customers.
Accountabilities:
  • Acting as the key contact point for the banks critical Checkpoint Firewall infrastructure
  • Planning the implementation of sophisticated changes to upgrade the estate.
  • Delivering changes of all sizes and complexities for our customers
  • Monitoring the estate and working with colleagues across the team and the wider IT community to identify and close down service-related issues.
  • Leading/ mentorship of the shift members within your team
  • Delivery of infrastructure and service improvement plans, including gateway upgrades and new builds

In addition to your support responsibilities, you’ll demonstrate an ability and willingness to engage with programmes and initiatives throughout the project lifecycle, delivering their requirements. It's vital to be confident supporting major incidents where required, including having appropriate customer leadership skills.

There will be a 24/7 shift pattern in place which is designed to provide the most robust level of support to the services our customers rely on. We work on a rotating 12-hour shift pattern, in recognition a shift allowance will be paid in addition to salary.

What you’ll need (essential)
  • Previous network engineering experience.
  • Understanding of network automation methods to investigate areas for improvement.
  • Experience with network monitoring software and response procedures.
  • Capability to deliver into a multi-vendor, enterprise-level environment.
  • Good communications skills with an ability to approach technical problems in a complicated environment.

And any experience of these would be really useful/ preferred.
  • CCSE/CCSA or equivalent experience with Checkpoint Firewalls.
  • Commercial experience in a financially regulated environment.
