AddressWe currently have an exciting opportunity for the position of Engineering Manager based at our Walworth depot. You would join a busy and demanding team and so we’re looking for candidates who can bring new ideas and ways of working to help the team achieve its objectives. It is also important candidates have the initiative and drive to make things happen.
The role will report to the Engineering Director, UK Bus with the day to day responsibility for running the Engineering facilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and standards in order to deliver a consistently reliable, safe, high quality and punctual service in line with specified targets, contractual obligations and commercial objectives. You will need management experience supported by initiative and flexibility towards all situations.
The main responsibilities of the position are:
- Day to day responsibility for the engineering department and everything associated with it.
- Ensure that the engineering team supply the required number of vehicles to the required standards on time every time.
- Agree, implement, and monitor targets associated with planned and unplanned maintenance.
- Help solve technical issues, manage suppliers and vehicle manufacturers.
- Motivate and develop your team to ensure that targets and standards are achieved consistently.
- Proactively manage and enhance welfare and safety standards.
- Ensure legislative compliance and adherence to company policies.
- Proactive internal and external stakeholder management.
- Playing a key role in shaping the future direction of the engineering department at depot and company level.
All candidates must have:
- Excellent understanding of the road passenger transport sector, including all relevant legal and external regulations and requirements for the safe operation of passenger carrying vehicles.
- Excellent working knowledge of all daily site procedures, engineering processes, health and safety regulations, DVSA standards, and people management practices.
- Have a passion to lead by example and motivate a team to achieve high standards of performance.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
- Experience running a busy bus garage.
- Thorough understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Ability to work with Operations, Performance and Engineering colleagues in a collaborative manner.
- Membership of a recognized professional engineering body is desirable.
