GSL Education London is seeking a Food Technology Teacher for one of their client schools based in Islington.

Food Tech and Cooking is a viable option for children who have been through significant trauma and badly let down by the adult world.
This Food Technology teaching role is focused on raising attainment with children for a PRU based in Islington. It is mixed provision, encapsulating the culture and wide disparities in terms of class and wealth, that can be found anywhere in the UK, shown here in Islington.
The school has outstanding facilities in all areas, including their kitchen and Food Tech set up, there is a real and concerted effort on key and functional skills. The school is incredibly sincere in this aim, they are not a ‘tick box’ school and do not pursue grades for the sake of it. The school has recently been graded as ‘good’ in key categories such as leadership and management and behaviour. The school has a very focused, caring, and restorative approach.
Food Technology Teacher Islington – Education and Training - Food Technology Teacher Islington
What is required:
- QTS as a Food Technology Teacher (ideally with PGCE, GTP, B.Ed. Cert Ed, BA with QTS)
- Experience in a similar role from UK schools
- Role is open to SEMH specialists or Mainstream teachers who can show their credentials to flourish in a SEMH and PRU context
- Instructors or individuals with SEMH experience and Cooking/Food Technology credentials
- Empathy – Building relationships before diving into the Food and academic content of your lessons
- Available to trial and interview immediately, 5 days a week, Monday to Friday
- Good general education levels in English and Maths, 5 grade and above is desired
- A Real focus on outside interest that diversify away from the core subjects, building key and personal skills – Sport, Cooking, Coding, Dance, Hair Dressing
- Knowledge, keen interest or understanding of the range of different types of learning and behavioural needs (SEMH, PRU)
- Ability to adapt to various working environments and students with differing abilities and unpredictable behaviour
- A co-operative working style
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- A Restorative approach and being open to new ideas
