Job description

Food Technology Instructor

We are seeking a dedicated Food Technology Instructor to join our team, carrying out the duties of a class teacher and contributing to raising the standards of achievement for all pupils. This role involves promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons. The successful candidate will be appointed as an Instructor to the school and may be deployed to teach any age range or learning pathway within the school.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Plan and prepare stimulating and engaging lessons that promote learning and enjoyment.
  • Develop schemes of work and complete planning documentation.
  • Teach Food Technology and Catering to pupils across the school, according to their educational needs.
  • Create learning programmes that link to the Preparation For Adulthood Agenda and relevant external accreditation.
  • Promote SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural development) and British values across the school.
  • Support the coordination of the ‘Our World’ area learning across the school.
  • Use assessment for learning to support formative assessment.
  • Assess, record, and report on pupils’ development using Evidence For Learning.
  • Prepare examination work for external accreditation and communicate with parents, colleagues, and pupils.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in teaching Food Technology and Catering (desired NOT essential)
  • Industry knowledge and experience 
  • Ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons.
  • Competence in assessing and reporting on pupil development.
  • Commitment to professional development.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within an educational setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school.
