Address As a Footwear Developer in the Emerging Concepts team, you will be responsible for managing the process of scalable implementation and commercialisation of key products and innovations. You will support the innovation team with the commercial and scalable validation of concepts and then manage the full roll out for mass production by guiding, co-managing, developing and/or delivering projects in partnership with our innovation, inline and sourcing teams.
Your Mission
- Lead under guidance of a senior the process for a frictionless transfer of innovations,
technologies, and products to commercialisation
- Ensure clear, timely and concise transfer of knowledge between the innovation
team, inline product creation teams, sustainability, sourcing functions, design, product
strategy, supply chain, T1 partners and T2. This includes but is not limited
to manufacturing processes, testing strategy, design and manufacturing limitations, lab
requirements, lead times and appropriate training manuals
- Be the gatekeeper of sustainability, pricing, quality and testing validation and T1
and T2 readiness
- Create clear Creation Guidelines for products to be created around.
- Drive continuous improvements to build upon technology toolboxes as creation
capabilities expand
- Deliver new and innovative footwear designs, components into manufacturable,
marketable and commercially viable finished products. Translate design vision and
consumer needs into products which support the Company's product and brand
strategy, as well as commercial goals
- Work closely with material strategy, inline and innovation team to drive new
constructions and materials to be considered in seasonal product
- Handle under guidance complex problem-solving related to product, efficiency,
machining and scalable manufacturing
- Support the creation of the Technical Transfer Manual (TTM)
- Review and analyze the Technical Transfer Manual (TTM) to check the practicability.
- Work with sourcing partners together to ensure every aspect of sourcing complexity
and implementation has been followed up
- Work closely with sourcing team and supply partner development teams to ensure
smooth, repeatable and scalable commercialisation
- Commercialize high performance athlete products on an industrial mass production standard
Your Story
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive work experience in the athletic footwear industry, with knowledge of development, sourcing
- Ability to act as a technical resource, mentor others and lead initiatives through high energy and positive influence
- Ability to lead junior team members and guide them to success
- Extensive experience in the athletic footwear industry, with a proven track record of successful footwear product launches
- Expert knowledge in the product development process (footwear and material construction, technology, textile manufacturing, sourcing, patterning, tooling, prototyping, production etc.)
- Experience with physical property guidelines, fit and wear testing and performance sport demands for product creation
- Know how in commercialising new technology and leading manufacturing scaling, costing and testing
- Strong understanding of costing principles and ability to negotiate with vendors as required
- Ability to work independently under a deadline on several projects simultaneously requiring both innovative ideas and engineering problem-solving
- Determination and passion; you are an explorer who challenges the status quo and builds the better you
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written) as well as the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and to manage several projects in various stages
- Strong IT skills (MS office, PLM, CAD)
- Language Skills: Fluency in English, knowledge in Vietnamese and Chinese and other language a plus
- This position is based in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam, with travel to Zurich and other suppliers in Asia (3-5 trips per year)

You will be a part of a team of expert developers and process engineers based in Switzerland and Vietnam, who are working closely with On's Innovation, Product Operations and Inline Product Creation teams in Zurich as well as our Footwear Sourcing team in Vietnam, to ensure the smooth transfer, scale up and roll out of innovations from proven concept stage to mass production.
Being highly agile, with a wide knowledge of footwear creation, project management and production, the team plays a key support role in the commercialisation of athlete products. We share an understanding of testing, quality and assessment conditions that need to be evaluated and implemented to bring innovations to life. We will also build close relationships with future partners at T1 and T2 level.
