Job description

An exciting and newly created opportunity has become available with our client for an experienced hospitality events Front of House Supervisor to work with the Operations Manager and Events Manager on a temporary basis, with a view to offer a permanent position, should you deliver whilst in role. This role requires you to proactively plan, supervise and coordinate the educational setting s internal events and banquets to an exceptional standard overseeing the wider Front of House team.

Front of House Supervisor Responsibilities

This is a fast-paced and varied role covering a wide range of activities and priorities that will change daily. The successful applicant will be expected to collaborate with the rest of the Events and kitchen team to ensure successful delivery of each function.

  • Some of your duties with include but are not limited to:
  • Meeting with all relevant departments to plan ahead for events and finalise details such as dietary requirements, wine choices and table plans for upcoming and pipeline events.
  • Supporting the Events Manager with recruitment and rostering of permanent and casual FoH staff. Collaborating with these individuals to ensure excellent service, training where required.
  • Leading the Front of House team to an exemplary standard, ensuring they are well presented and informed of their duties.
  • Ensuring stock, glassware, crockery and cutlery are in place and of good quality, replenishing where necessary.
  • Setting up and clearing away dining / drinks rooms, ensuring the correct wines are selected.
  • Ensuring tableware is set out correctly and guests are seated correctly ahead of scheduled timings.
  • Responding to emergencies and anticipated events including attendee queries and proactively inform impacting kitchen staff and waiting staff.
  • Ensure catering is delivered on time and rooms serviced between catering services.
  • Welcome and support meeting guests when in College.
  • Assist with staff training on systems where required.
  • Review and manage risk assessments relating to front-of-house operations.

Front of House Supervisor Experience

This is an exciting role for a highly experienced catering or Front of House manager with proven success in managing service delivery within a large organisation. You will have demonstrable experience in delivering banqueting events as well as supervising high attendee, high-volume catering areas. A motivating person by nature, you love to play an integral role of building and supervising teams, training and supporting where necessary. You thrive on providing excellent customer service paying attention to the finer detail whilst maintaining professionalism at all times. Calm under pressure, you're able to delegate and provide clear instruction to ensure high standards are obtained at all times. Experience in managing and using event management systems and EPOS is essential to this role as is an appropriate level of food safety and health and safety qualifications and proficient use of the Microsoft Office suite.

Please note you will require a Level Two Food Hygiene Certificate to be considered for this role.

Location

OX1 - Please note, there is no parking on site.

This is a full time position, working 36.5 hours, five days out of seven with core hours of 8am 6pm. A key part of this role is supervising the service during formal dinners that take place between 17:00 and 22:00 (Tuesdays and Thursdays during term time and other days outside of term time). You will be required to work occasionally at the weekend and evenings during other events as required.

If you are asked to work more than these hours, you will be paid overtime or offered time in lieu. This is a fully office based role.
