Job description

This role requires up to 3-days per week in the office during the first 3 months. If you are not within a reasonable commute, we can fund transport and overnight expenses as required. After the first 3 months, you will need to be in the office as per business needs which will be a minimum of once per month.

The office is based in Bradley Stoke, North Bristol, approximately 3 miles from Bristol Parkway station and 1/2 mile from the M4/M5 interchange.

We are delighted to be offering two unique opportunities for talented .NET Software Developers to join our growing friendly team. We are looking for someone with commercial experience as a .NET Software Developer to join us and be responsible for developing and supporting in house insurance application as well as analyse, develop, and test all applications using the appropriate processes, methods, and standards.

What you will do

  • Undertake analysis, design, programming, and testing for the development of new systems and provide support for, and enhancements to, existing systems.
  • Produce technical documentation to support the development of new systems.
  • Develop relationship with business users to aid full understanding of business requirements and make recommendations as and when required to improve systems.
  • Produce accurate estimates and monitor progress against established project milestones and provide regular updates to management on the progress of work.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate against project risks.
  • Consult with the Support Desk and the larger team to ensure priorities are being correctly addressed.
  • Work through all aspects of the development lifecycle as well as contribution to and implementation of improvements to best practices, high quality design and development of software.

Important experience and skills you will need.

  • Experience working in a professional software development environment.
  • Technical proficient in the following skill sets:
  • MS Visual Studio
  • C#
  • .NET framework
  • Entity Framework
  • MS SQL Server development, TSQL/Stored Procedures
  • Demonstrate a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Flexible and able to absorb new information or change in plans in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Source Control Practices using source control tools, e.g. TFS.
  • Understand the principles of software architecture and patterns.

And if you have these additional skills, that would be a bonus.

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of design and software development methodologies.
