Distinctive Developments is a well-established mobile games developer and publisher based in Sheffield City Centre.

Job Description
As a member of the core development team you will be developing our online frontend and backend systems, that help us make our games more entertaining and successful. These services comprise of our online game-services, online game-modes, metrics reporting system and our game/live-ops configuration frontend. You will work closely with other developers in both the tools & technology department and the game production department to constantly maintain, improve and add new features.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain our in-house tools frontend systems, written in PHP.
- Develop and maintain our in-house backend systems, written in Java.
- Work with JSON data format for communication between games, backend and frontend.
- Produce highly efficient, reliable and maintainable code that serves millions of players.
- Work closely with management, designers and other developers to deliver game-changing features.
- Assist with server administration and deployments.
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related subject.
- Excellent PHP experience and skills essential.
- Excellent Java (J2EE) experience and skills essential.
- Understanding of cloud services implementation essential.
- Great knowledge of SQL & NoSQL Database Design and Implementation.
- Laravel experience an advantage.
- HTML/CSS/Javascript/Bootstrap knowledge essential.
- Maven Dependency Manager an advantage.
- Experience of AWS (DynamoDB, S3, RDS, Elasticache etc).
- Knowledge of online security and session management best practices.
- Good communication and teamworking skills.
- An interest in sports and gaming.

Location
Initially working in our office in Sheffield City Centre in order to get up to speed with our systems and processes. But, then the option to work from home two or three days per week if desirable.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to £50,000.00 per year
