Your Role: As a Functional Skills Tutor, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the careers of aspiring Early Years professionals.
Functional Skills Tutor Duties and Responsibilities:
The role involves instructing Apprenticeship learners, creating personalised training programs that adhere to both company standards and awarding body criteria. The delivery of these programs will occur through remote, classroom, and one-on-one settings.
Key responsibilities:
• Plan, prepare, and deliver a course of learning for learners in Functional Skills Maths and English
• Devise and implement appropriate teaching plans and learning materials for classroom (inc remote) and 1:1 coaching sessions.
• Undertake formal reviews with learners, completing coaching and assessment records outlining the teaching, learning and assessment undertaken during the session.
• Mark learners’ work providing developmental feedback that builds on existing skills and challenges the learning process.
• Maintain a high standard of compliance in order to meet internal and external requirements.
• Take part in observations of teaching, learning and assessment in order to identify key strengths in performance and address areas for self-development.
• Undertake continuous professional/curriculum development is undertaken to maintain and enhance your own technical knowledge within your subject(s) specialism.
• Carry out additional tasks which are within capabilities and fulfil the requirements of the role and business needs.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience required for Functional Skills Tutor
• L3 Teaching award e.g. AET/PTLLS/PGCE
• Assessor award- A1, CAVA, TAQA would be highly desirable
Functional Skills L2 or equivalent in Maths & English
• Previous experience delivering Maths and English to Apprenticeship Learners
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to work effectively with employers, staff and
learners
• Familiar with e-portfolio systems
• Effective time management and able to work towards set targets and deadlines
• Full UK Driving License and the flexibility to travel as and where required
