Job description

This is a new position within the team, the role holder will be responsible for generating a diverse income and ensuring that our fundraising activities align with our strategic priorities. They will work closely with the Operations Manager, as well as the Finance and Communications team.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation you will develop strong and compelling fundraising bids for a range of trusts, grant funders and government funding streams. You will support the Management Team to develop and deliver an effective, values-based fundraising strategy in line with our strategic priorities. You will also work closely with the Finance and Communications Team to attract diverse streams of income and develop innovative ways of reaching donors as well as demonstrating the impact of SWA’s work. Building a network of effective relationships with grant making bodies as well as corporate and community partners and stakeholders will be integral to the role.

What We Need: We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar role, with specific experience of developing and writing successful funding applications from a wide range of funding sources, preferably in a similar context. We’re looking for someone with skills across a range of fundraising profiles, with experience of developing legacy and corporate fundraising streams as well as community fundraising. We ask that you are a self-starter, ready to apply these skills creatively to meet our strategic priorities.  Excellent written and verbal communications skills go without saying: you’ll be skilled in the ability to engage confidently with a range of different audiences, and be adept at writing to suit them, working alongside colleagues across SWA to co-produce bids, reports and evaluations for funders.

We’re looking for someone who has;

  • Knowledge of ethical Fundraising and charity law as applied to the fundraising environment in Scotland.
  • Demonstrable track record of developing and writing successful funding applications, from a wide range of relevant funding sources.
  • Highly organised approach to effective planning, delivery and the development of funding applications.
  • Awareness and understanding of the feminist analysis of domestic abuse and the impact on women, children and young people.
