Furniture Designer / CAD Technician

Our client is looking for both experienced and junior Furniture Designers/ CAD Technicians with a flair for design to join their talented team of craftsmen and women at Origins Design. They are an established business specialising in bespoke furniture design and manufacturing. The business is based in SW London/Surrey, where they have in-house production and manufacturing teams producing high-end, free standing and fitted bespoke furniture.
Furniture Designer / CAD Technician
Salary: £28,000 to £36,000 depending on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Job Description
The position will involve developing their clients’ initial concepts through to final production and manufacture, to produce highly accurate and technical manufacturing and production drawings to a very high standard.
Design bespoke fitted and free standing furniture (upholstery and joinery)Produce and design 2D/3D furniture modelsProduce detailed, technical working production drawings and packs for manufacturing noting all details for all departments involved in the manufacturing cycleConduct site surveysProduce cutting lists Liaise with clientsOrder materialsCalculate material requirements, costs and prepare quotationsManage and co-ordinate projects from enquiry through to installationLiaise with internal production teamsWork to agreed deadlinesSupport Company Directors where needed
Skill Requirements
They are looking for someone who has a strong level of understanding of bespoke furniture.
Previous experience working as a Furniture Designer or CAD Designer, with a good understanding of upholstery and joinery manufacturingA strong technical background within furniture design, ideally with bespoke workMust have experience in SolidWorks and/or Rhinoceros 3DA solid understanding of upholstery and joinery manufacturing processes and materialsDemonstrate detailed knowledge and experience of bespoke upholstery and luxury furniture productionProblem solving skills and proven experience to solve technical challengesA broad knowledge of furniture constructionStrong written and verbal communication skillsMust be fluent in spoken and written EnglishMust have the right to live and work in the UKFull UK driving license desirable
unior Designer / CAD Technician
Salary: £22,000 to £28,000 depending on experience

Job Description
The position will involve providing technical and project support for a small team of technical designers in their work producing bespoke furniture. This is a great role for a Junior CAD Technician or recent graduate with a keen attitude to learn.
Skill Requirements
Must have experience in SolidWorks and/or Rhinoceros 3DProblem solving skills A broad knowledge of furniture constructionStrong written and verbal communication skills. Must be fluent in spoken and written English.Must have the right to live and work in the UKFull UK driving license desirable
Some work experience in a furniture, design or joinery business would be preferable and you must have a genuine passion for design, furniture and interiors.
Both roles are studio/workshop based.
