Job description

WE ARE 200 years of history and over 2,300 employees strong. WE ARE a business loaded with opportunity and career progression. WE ARE innovators, designers, makers and engineers who manufacture and provide smart, efficient, and effective building products and solutions.

Through our customer relationships, diverse building product range and solutions, we enable the creation of inspirational homes, places and spaces for us all to live and work better. With eight core product categories, underpinned by expert design and technical services, we work with architects, builders, merchants and the wider construction supply chain to build the face of Britain.
We are fully committed to a net zero future and continue to invest in expertise and product development to manufacture more efficiently and sustainably. We pride ourselves on leading for new, innovative and sustainable products and solutions, both for today and for a new era of building.

To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for a Production Planner (Brick Slips) to join the Futures Division covering Nostell & The Midlands area. The role is flexible in office base location and dependent on the successful candidate, a local Ibstock office would be provided.

This is a newly created role, arisen due to the growth plans for Brick Slips Production especially surrounding the two new manufacturing facilities at our Nostell site and sales trajectory for the futures division. We are looking to develop a clear S&OP approach to the manufacturing process, through having two key pillars in the Operations – Production Planning (this role) sitting side by side with Manufacturing (Factory and Production manager’s Nostell and Midlands) and Commercial – clearly aligning with the Sales teams and customers to ensure successful delivery and communication with our Customers.

Given the Strategic Project nature of the Nostell Projects and with a go-live for the first facility in 2024 and the second in 2025 this is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to build from the ground up and really help deliver on our obligations to the wider business.

Your role will be supporting the production processes through scheduling and controlling manufacturing outputs through the production process to ensure all products are running in time and in full and improve the communication flow by bridging the gap between commercial, production and transport.
This is a key and exciting time in the development of our product offering within Ibstock Futures, the development of this facility at Nostell and the refinement of our operation at Midlands presents a great opportunity for lean optimisation and industrialisation and the successful applicant will be key in driving our continuous improvement culture within the division and developing and delivering efficient growth based on adding value to the value stream.

This would be a great role for someone who has previously worked as a team member in a mature S&OP environment, but is now looking to utilise their experience to help develop the right process and measures in almost a start-up environment, working with functional stakeholders, to develop the right foundations in place to facilitate our ambitious growth plans.

As our Production Planner (Brick Slips), you will:
•    Understand and challenge sales forecasts accuracy and robustness
•    Take responsibility for coordinating product release in line with plan
•    Convert planned requirements into production orders (managing change or cancellation)
•    Manage and avoid/reduce unscheduled production requirements as much as possible
•    Print and manage shop ‘work to lists’ to allow clear prioritisation of work
•    Support sequencing of products for production process
•    Liaise with all areas of business including suppliers, production, sales and procurement
•    Work closely with the Sales and Production team(s) to prioritise urgent orders
•    Work with Factory Managers and Sales Teams as required to monitor and manage any quality issues

Think you can make a difference? WE ARE your future.

More details:

•    Full time, permanent role with hybrid working options
•    Competitive salary
•    10% matched pension, administered by Legal and General
•    3x life insurance
•    Full access to Employee Assistance programme for self and family members
•    Access to high street retail discounts platform – with access to discounts at Tesco, Asda, etc…
•    Personal development and career progression opportunities

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion?

Excited about the role, but your past experience or qualifications don’t perfectly match everything in the job description? We would encourage you to still apply. Studies have shown that some people, particularly from minority groups are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. Here at Ibstock Plc we are dedicated to building belonging, empowering our colleagues to be their true self by offering a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace. You may just be the right candidate for this role, or other future roles across the Ibstock Group.

Ibstock Plc are committed and passionate about building a diverse environment. We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, national origin, disability or age.
