Garden Plants Manager

Otter Garden Centres is a leading independent and family-run business with seven branches across the South West. We offer quality, value and choice in a unique retail environment in all of our Garden Centres. Growing and selling many of our own plants for over 60 years we are now one of the fastest growing Garden Centre groups in the South of England.

We have an exciting opportunity for a PLANT MANAGER in our Ottery St Mary Flagship Garden Centre. We have approx. 80 retail staff covering all areas of the garden centre, this role will be responsible for plant centre, sundries, yard and stoneware

Role & responsibilities:

· Full input into all retail decisions across the retail plant centre

· Motivate and develop team to achieve set goals

· Support the Retail Manager in ensuring the efficient day to day running of the Plant Centre, Stoneware and Yard through the management team.

· Plan, organise and develop the plant, sundries and Stoneware departments, whilst meeting and exceeding customer expectations and financial targets.

· Set and achieve goals on a daily weekly and monthly schedule through your teams

· Have responsibility for the branch security and Health & Safety including opening and closing when required.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the following:

- Have strong commercial experience, and able to demonstrate working at this level in a retail environment. Plant knowledge not essential but good management skills are

- You must enjoy surpassing customers’ expectations and relish the challenge of retail.

- Have excellent people management skills / communication and HR compliance.

- Understanding of stock control and EPOS.

- Have a good understanding of Health and Safety in a retail environment.

- Be a coach, mentor and team player.

- Have a strong desire to achieve the best results every day.
