Gardener - Cranwell Court

We are currently looking for a Grounds Operative (Gardener) to join the team at Cranwell Court - an older peoples home with Dementia in Grimsby.
Pay & Hours:
Rate of Pay - £10.50 per hour
Hours of Work – 16 hours per week
Shift Pattern – Working to a rota covering 7 days per week (May include every other weekend).
The Role:
You will have responsibility for completing general grounds and landscaping work as directed by the home manager. Duties to include but not limited to:
Operational:
To carry out all required grass cutting, hedge trimming and general external maintenance including hanging baskets, pots and tubs, adhering to the scope of works and schedule ensuring that all areas are kept in good condition, reporting any issues with grassed areas requiring further attention to the Head of Estates.
To identify areas of fencing and other structures that may require refurbishing and regular maintaining and bringing to the attention of the Head of Estates.
To carry out general and required pruning to shrubs, trees and report to Head of Estates areas that require extra attention and assist with planning the required work.
To use on-site equipment as required and advise on ‘specialist’ equipment required.
To carry out other maintenance work assisting the on-site maintenance and mobile Grounds team when required as directed by the Head of Estates or operational lead.
To ensure all grass cuttings, trimmings and pruning’s from site are only loaded into the green waste skip at all times.
Health & Safety:
Responsible for your own safety and those of others in the vicinity and those that may be directly and indirectly affected by any work carried out at any service. This includes an awareness of wildlife when using herbicides.
To be responsible for the safe use of all equipment within your direct control including petrol powered, electrically powered and all hand tools as required to carry out the work.
‘Own tools’ will not be allowed on site and all equipment used must be supplied by Hica. Required equipment will be tested and serviced in accordance with statutory requirements and manufacturers recommendations.
Support the Head of Estates with Health, Safety and Environmental issues, completing Health and Safety compliance checks and provide reports and recommendations to the Head of Estates.

Cranwell Court is a 56 bed Care Home split between a 17 bedded enhanced dementia unit and a 39 bed residential development situated on Cambridge Road in Grimsby. Set in its own beautiful grounds Cranwell Court comprises of a range of spacious , self contained apartments with kitchen and bathroom facilities, giving residents their own front door and private space.
We are rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and bring the very latest in care and facilities for older people into the heart of Grimsby.
