About the roleBalfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a GENERAL FOREMAN to join our Regional team to work in Scotland and the North of England.What you'll be doingAs a GENERAL FOREMAN, you will have the following accountabilities:Input into the production of Work Package Plans and Risk AssessmentsProvide suggestions and recommendations for Temporary Works solutionsIdentify potential hazards and proactively implement actions and controlsEnsure all plant and small tools are adequately maintained before useInput into the production of Task Briefing SheetsThrough observation and liaison with the workforce and subcontractors suggests improvement areasEnsures plant is adequate for the task prior to being usedMonitors the performance of plant operators and appointed personsCarries out Safety & Environment ToursKeeps up to date with changes in legislationBe familiar with, and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety and Environmental PoliciesEnsures that the Environmental Policy and appropriate parts of Environmental Procedures are effectively communicated to the workforce, particularly to those engaged on activities that have been identified as likely to have a significant environmental impact.Ensure that the workforce / Gangers have sufficient and correct information in terms ofspecification, workmanship and finishEnsure that all Non Conformances are reported as requiredCarry out Quality Tool Box TalksComplete QA using BIM field 360Chair daily short interval control meetings with the site supervisorsValidate labour and plant records to the project cost control procedureWho we're looking forYou will have the following qualities and experience:Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accuratelyCapable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomesStrong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nightsAble to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibilityHolds a current driving license and CSCS CardMust be a good team player, with strong communication and interpersonal skillsUnderstands the basic Company Protocols with regard to Accidents and Incidents investigationsUncompromising approach to the implementation of safe systems of workGood working knowledge of current H & S legislationSMSTS Training Scheme.Bring experience of delivering engaging toolbox talks, allocating resource, monitoring key programme dates and managing the works of direct labour and subcontractorsUnderstand contract documents, construction tolerances and test plansWhy work for usDay in, day out, our teams deliver amazing projects in challenging conditions; developing, managing and maintaining the vital infrastructure and public spaces that modern economies, societies and communities rely on.About usFrom Dunfermline tramways in 1909 to highland hospitals today, Balfour Beatty has been trusted for over a century to deliver the complex and critical infrastructure and iconic buildings Scotland relies on.We have the people, knowledge and experience to safely deliver projects right first time, maximising value for money and ensuring a positive social impact and inclusive economic growth for local communities.Our award-winning sustainable projects, including active travel, Passivhaus and retrofit, demonstrate our commitment to supporting Scotlands transition towards net zero in the built environment.Diversity and inclusionAt Balfour Beatty we believe that diversity and inclusion are essential components of any successful, happy workplace.
