Sheridan Maine, working on behalf of a prestigious global organisation that is a leader in its specialist market, is currently seeking a talented General Ledger Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. In this expansive role, you will take charge of a team of three, offering additional support throughout the implementation of the latest Sage version (X3), and engaging in various projects. The primary objective is to guarantee the punctual and precise generation of Management Accounts and Management Information by executing assigned tasks within established timelines.
Your responsibilities as the General Ledger Accountant will include:
- Complete designated tasks as part of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare and input ad-hoc month-end journals with accompanying documentation.
- Compile monthly roll-forward documents essential for SEC filings.
- Create balance sheet reconciliations using Blackline.
- Address queries and fulfil data requests from internal and external audits as necessary.
- Identify and bring attention to any areas of concern, suggesting adjustments with supporting information.
- Assist in month-end submissions and validation checks.
- Actively support, train, and encourage Assistant GL Accountants to enhance their knowledge and exam preparation.
- Provide support and coverage for tasks of other team members during holidays, absences, and peak workload periods to meet deadlines.
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance function.
- Other ad-hoc tasks as required.
To be considered for the position of General Ledger Accountant, you will require the following skills and experience:
- Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with experience of working in a busy finance department.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (possibly practice trained).
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Candidates with experience in Foreign Exchange (FX), a background in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance (SOX), and proficiency in Hyperion reporting are highly preferred.
This position offers the flexibility of remote work with occasional days required at the Birmingham-based office. Therefore, candidates must live within a commutable distance to Birmingham.
