Applications are invited for the full time position of General Office Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support for the Scott Polar Research Institute.
The Scott Polar Research Institute is a special and unique place to work, with some 50 members of the Institute under the Director, including Senior Academic and Academic Related staff, Associates, Assistant staff, up to 20 PhD candidates and up to 12 MPhil students at any one time. The combination of academic research and teaching, a public museum, and an internationally significant library, archive and picture library, means that the Institute undertakes a wide range of activities. With the General Office team sitting at the heart of the Institute's activities, the role holder will enjoy being part of busy team and contributing to a wide range of activities. We are looking for a well organised and enthusiastic person to take on this important role.
The post holder will provide administrative support to the Institute Administrator, with a wide range of administrative processes, including HR and H&S related issues, events management, security, internal and external communications and assist the Graduate Admissions team with tasks associated with our MPhil and PhD students.
The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders. We are looking for someone with a flexible and adaptable 'can do' attitude to work, who has the ability to work with a high level of accuracy and to tight deadlines.
