Job Title: General Class Teacher
Location: Morpeth NE61
Contract Type: Full Time/ Fixed Term (until Aug 2025)
Pay Scale: 150-190 GBP per day. (paid according to PayScale)
As a SEN Teacher, you will be paid Salary + SEN Allowance.
Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for the education and welfare of a designated group of pupils all of whom have special educational needs, in accordance with the requirements of the DfES Conditions of Employment for school teachers; the National Curriculum; the school mission and aims; schemes of work and any policies adopted by the Governing Body of the school.
- To define IEPs for all pupils and to share these with the Teaching Assistants so that they can fulfil their role.
- To plan in partnership with the Teaching Assistants to enable them to fulfil their role.
- To fulfil administrative functions to support effective teaching and learning and assessment recording and reporting procedures.
- To exercise pastoral care
- To share in the corporate responsibility for the wellbeing and discipline of all pupils
- To contribute to the corporate life of the school
- To work co-operatively and collaboratively with other members of staff.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher status (QTS) OR PGCE OR Equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience in achieving outstanding outcomes.
- Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN Experience of working with young people with ASD.
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Ability to create and maintain strong nurturing relationships with young people.
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, to include the students with anxiety.
- Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners.
- A flexible approach, a high-level creativity, and the ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs.
