Investors and broader stakeholders are increasingly demanding more strategic, holistic information about long term value creation and a company's wider impact on society. There is an urgent need for sustainability reporting to be reported in a way that is globally consistent, comparable and trusted. The SRTT has been created in the CRS Network (and led by the SR team within GAQ-CRS) to address this need. The Sustainability Reporting Oversight Group, comprising a team of senior Sustainability leaders across the PwC network, has been formed to oversee the Topic Team's activities.
This recruitment is part of PwC's response to the accelerated evolution in sustainability reporting:
- Priority focus on climate risk and sustainable development issues within the reporting market
- Increased stakeholder expectations on the Sustainability performance of companies, and the related reporting requirements.
- Standardisation of Sustainability frameworks and standards
- The announcement of the creation of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) by the IFRS Foundation Trustees and the publication of two proposed standards;
- Implementation of the green taxonomy and new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) (revision of Non Financial Reporting Directive) by the European Union;
- The issue of draft European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) and the adoption of standards expected in 2023 and application in 2024 and;
- The ISSB's development of an IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Taxonomy for digital reporting
- Coordinating Sustainability group projects:
- building a network of experts and specialists
- anticipating agenda topics, drafting instructions and minutes and follow-up action plans
- defining milestones and keeping up to date with the progress of ongoing projects
- coordinating at a local and regional level and coordinating with various cross-border functions and expertise (e.g. CRS (formerly known as ACS), ESG experts, CMAAS, methodology, auditors)
- identifying opportunities to leverage local initiatives
- defining our internal policies
- Help shape the future of Sustainability reporting standards by leading response letters to standard setters on discussion papers and exposure drafts and providing updates on other sustainability reporting frameworks
- Contribute to Sustainability thought leadership and knowledge management:
- External and internal communication on Sustainability reporting updates such as blogs and points of views
- Producing frequently asked questions to be debated at global working groups
- Contributions to training conferences and publications.
- Building up and upskilling the network through creating awareness, and supporting engagement and technical teams
- Maintaining knowledge management materials on Viewpoint
- Respond to consultations and enquiries from teams across the network, providing guidance on the most complex and high profile Sustainability reporting issues in conjunction with partners in the team
What you can expect from the job:
- Help shape the direction of travel - We are at the forefront of the Sustainability Reporting developments. You will have exposure to, and interactions with, standard setters and regulators.
- Enhance Relationship skills - We are connected to the various Sustainability and CRS teams around the world. You will develop an extensive network of senior contacts across the firm as well as interact with partners and directors on a daily basis and gain unique insight as to how the network applies Sustainability reporting standards
- Work with all the PwC services involved in Sustainability reporting
- Interact with the international network of PwC experts on Sustainability reporting
- Build Leadership skills - We are driving the network's views. You will be contributing to our responses to exposure drafts and discussion papers, managing differing viewpoints and building consensus, and draft thought leadership pieces. You will contribute to debates within the international PwC network and regulatory bodies to develop PwC technical positions
- Develop problem solving skills - We are faced with a diverse range of reporting challenges from across the world every day. You will build advanced analytical skills that can also be applied beyond solving technical issues.
- Become an expert in Sustainability reporting area - You will bring your expertise to the consultations and thought leadership and learn to analyse, explain and report on current events and their implications.
- Follow the projects and discussions of standard setters (IASB, ISSB, EFRAG...) and regulatory bodies (IOSCO, ESMA, SEC...)
- Influencing (marking our technical footprint and our influence on the market) and participating in major events for the development of PwC (conferences, training, publications)
- Work with territory sustainability teams to have a consistent approach to standards and interpretations.
