We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Global Lead of Assurance Practices, Enterprise Risk Management.

As the Global Lead of Assurance Practices, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), you will continuously shape and deliver the ERM Assurance Practices Framework (APF) and oversee defined activities in Central (a.k.a.  Holdings) Operational Risk team e.g.  operational risk reporting and stress testing.  

The APF, and annual coverage plan, comprises core ERM Risk Stewards (Service Owner) activitiesy including opinion papers, periodic assurance activities and ongoing assurance activities.  

The role holder’s governance, Risk Management, internal control expertise, particularly in operational and resilience risk areas will continuously support ERM leadership on its priorities.  

This assurance and insights activity will contribute to achieving improved ERMNFR outcomes, including regulatory requirements (e.g.  PRA, HKMA, OCC) and operational risk economic capital optimisation (Basel 3).  

In this role, you will:

•    Own and maintain the ERM Assurance Practices Guide, ensuring it remains fit for purpose and ‘best in class’, with clear and sufficient guidance to enable ERM Risk Stewards Service Owners to effectively deliver their Assurance activities. 
•    Lead and collaborate with ERM Service OwnersRisk Stewards on establishing individual coverage plans (at Global, Regional and Market levels) and approaches, aligned to the ERM Service Catalogue, APF, and ERM priorities and objectives.
•    Raise and agree timely Real Time Issues and Assurance Reports where design and operating effectiveness control weaknesses issues are identified.  Material issues to be escalated quickly, as they are identified. 
•    Contribute to the ERM Risk Steward agenda, including providing insights and opinions at the Monthly Risk Steward Forum. 
•    Provide holistic insights and reporting to the ERM leadership team on assurance coverage sufficiency, any gaps in Aassurance coverage in the context of the NFR risk profile, and regulatory expectations.
•    Identify opportunities to share and leverage work of other First Line of Defence and Second Line of Defence teams, Risk & Compliance Assurance Services and Global Internal Audit, as part of an Integrated Assurance Framework.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•     Deep knowledge and understanding of Basel requirements, Risk Management Framework, including NFR Policy & Framework.  Specifically, NFR Service Catalogue, and NFR Technical User Guides.  
•    Ideally, with hands on experiences from and/or by dealing with Holdings’the bank’s key regulators, e.g. PRA, FCA, etc. 
•    Strong awareness of First Line of Defence and Second Line of Defence NFR roles and responsibilities, with particular focus on Second Line of Defence requirements (e.g. Non-Financial Risk Stewards, Operational Risk Function).   
•    Expert knowledge and experience in delivery of Aassurance methodology (including risk assessment) and use of data analytical tools and automated testing techniques, e.g.  Qlik sense to interrogate Helios-based risks, controls, events, issues and actions data.
•    Practical work experience in professional services environment, particularly in assurance, internal/external audit or accounting. 

The base location for this role is in Edinburgh and is Hybrid Working.
