Purpose of the Job
The goal is to maintain excellent technical standards and compliance worldwide, by implementing asset management strategies, conducting technical compliance updates and reviews, and proactively managing risks to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Key Tasks
- Drive the development of future engineering strategic direction across the DCS business and ensure successful implementation of new initiatives.
- Promote and advance the Critical Environment & Risk Management model and standards globally, with the primary objective of ensuring efficient and safe operation and maintenance of engineering systems to achieve 100% plant availability and uptime.
- Establish risk management protocols to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Collaborate with Divisional Technical Directors to ensure that all contracts meet their technical statutory requirements whilst providing technical engineering support to account teams.
- Implement global education and competence standards throughout the DCS Business.
- Ensure that all contracts have proper management of critical spares.
- Create and lead a Global Technical forum, acting as a technical authority to provide guidance and support to maintenance teams as needed.
- Govern the interface between projects and operations through the technical teams.
- Ensuring EOP's and SOP's are in place globally at the correct standard.
- Conduct Technical Needs Assessments, produce gap analysis reports, and develop training plans.
- Oversee the management and delivery of Essential Maintenance Periods as defined in the contract scope.
- Assist in generating timely and meaningful reports and technology for contract teams to enhance productivity, equipment reliability, failure trends, and improvement recommendations.
- Facilitate the implementation, adoption, and integration of the Critical Environment & Risk Management (CERM) model processes into daily operations.
- Conduct regular emergency response simulations and ensure action plans are in place for potential serious incidents worldwide. Lead Divisional Technical Directors in conducting Root Cause Analysis and investigative procedures.
- Act as the primary interface with clients, specifically client technical staff, on technical matters
- Contribute positively to enhancing our technical capability, standards, and operational delivery on contracts, playing a crucial role in supporting the vision and pursuit of engineering excellence.
- Ensure appropriate training is identified and implemented for HV switching.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory laws across all regions, promptly identifying and communicating any changes.
Skills / Experience / Background
- Experience as Technical Director level within a technical environment. Knowledge of data rooms, critical systems and complex HV and LV systems.
- High level of competency and understanding of Critical Environment electrical infrastructures.
- Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems and plant operations within Building Services and Critical Environments.
- Up to date technical knowledge of ACOP’s, fire and environmental control measures, building control requirements, High Voltage, 17th Edition, Refrigeration and the Health and Safety at Work Act
- Minimum HNC qualification in appropriate engineering discipline.
- Degree level qualification in mechanical and electrical engineering is highly desirable
- Chartered Engineer status would be highly desirable but is not essential
- Authorising Engineer for Permit-to-Work systems
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a related environment (Data Centres of Critical Engineering Environments)
- Have a positive and proactive approach to work and able to work own initiative and as part of a large account team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Robust, assertive and dynamic attitude towards achieving results.
- Ability to lead change programmes to implement technical best practice
- Ability to think strategically and put strategy into practice
- Contractually astute and able to work within the confines of contractual requirements
