We are looking to recruit a dynamic Clerk to School Governing Boards and Support Officer with excellent administration, organisational and interpersonal skills.
In this role you will be a key part of a small but friendly central MAT team, and have the opportunity to develop towards governance professional role and make a real difference to the governance of 4 schools across Amethyst Academies Trust.

The role is term-time only and part time, working 22.5 hours per week flexibly across the year, to meet the needs of the governing boards. The majority of the Trust’s governance meetings take place in the late afternoon or early evening. A flexible approach to working hours is essential as the successful candidate may be asked to service additional meetings in order to meet the governance needs of the Trust (for example pupil disciplinary committees, complaints panels, HR hearings) or to provide cover for other team members in their absence.
The successful applicant will have a base at the Trusts Central team office in Penn, Wolverhampton, although we anticipate that they will undertake the majority of their work from home. Attendance at academies for meetings is required, and travel expenses will be reimbursed. A laptop and mobile phone will be provided.
Knowledge of how schools and governing bodies operate would be an advantage along with previous experience of similar work however full training and support will be provided to candidates who demonstrate the necessary skills. There is an expectation that regular training and development will be undertaken to maintain knowledge and develop practice.
The core responsibilities of the post will include:
• Working closely with the Governing Bodies and Chairs of Governors, along with the Headteacher.
• This role will support and co-ordinate the distribution of papers, take the minutes and follow up on any further actions accordingly.
• Supporting the Executive Director of Governance, Legal and Compliance in the fulfilment of the School Governor Service within the Trust, with regard to the smooth running of the Trust’s Board and Governing Board meeting programme.
• Providing support to the Governors and schools through advice, guidance and the Governor/ Trustee training programme.
• Providing various administrative tasks as required.
